On Saturday May 2, 2026, Leatha D. McCoy was celebrated with a party, with an estimated guest list, of over 100 people at the UAW 14 hall on Jackman Rd. in Toledo, Ohio.

The reason for such a big bash was to celebrate centenarian McCoy’s 100 birthday which was illustrating the importance and the  magnitude, such as this special, once in a lifetime, milestone, occasion deserving a Saturday night only, to be properly celebrated.

Born in Blackton, Arkansas, May 6, 1926,  she was one of 14 children. After  high school, she moved to Toledo, Ohio where she would meet and, eventually marry Lacy McCoy Sr. They were married 67 years, and  had eight sons and one God daughter.

She had a career in the healthcare industry for 25 years before retiring from Lake Park Retirement Home in 1993. After her retirement she continued to be a caregiver and administer healthcare to family members who needed those services.

Today Leatha D. McCoy continues to be a longtime faithful member of  The Glass City Church of Christ and is relishing the simple things in life, like enjoying her family, going for walks, cooking, and word puzzles.

At her party she was very well received by her guests, and she also received a proclamation from Toledo City Council honoring her for reaching her 100th birthday.
