Dana Baker, celebrated his 65th birthday with a 70’s Theme

Special to The Toledo Journal

“We are truly blessed and happy to be here in celebration of my husband Dana Baker, on his 65th birthday. We’re surrounded by our amazing family and closest friends, some of whom have traveled great distances to be here tonight-from Columbus, OH, Dallas TX, and Michigan. Their presence makes this occasion even more special,” said Mrs. Baker.

This wonderful celebration was actually the idea of their daughter,  Ferris and  Son-in-Law, Glynn Pleasant, who were determined not to miss this opportunity. So, when it came to celebrating Dana, they were truly instrumental in bringing this event to life and creating something so meaningful.

After spending more than nine years as a U.S. Air Force family, with Glynn serving as a Sercurity Forces Staff Sergeant, they experienced their share of hardships. Being stationed far from home meant missing family events, precious milestones, and sadly, loss of multiple loved ones.

Renee Baker, Dana’s wife, told The Toledo Journal that, at first, her husband wasn’t exactly enthusiastic about having a big party. But once, he realized they weren’t going to take no for an answer, he eventually got on board.

When asked if he wanted a formal affair. He quickly said, “No! I just want everyone to come and have a great time.”  And, that’s  what happened,on that night.!

Dana’s grand entrance to James Brown’s ‘Funky Good Time’, dressed head- to-toe in seventies attire, set the perfect tone and got the celebration started in style.

As  a cancer survivor and a retiree of the Lucas County Sheriff’s Department, where he faithfully served for, 30 years and because of everything he has overcome, the family was and is especially grateful and filled with joy to celebrate him and all his accomplishments in this way.

Dana Baker joined by additional family members at his 60th birthday party.

According to Mrs. Baker, It made the night even more meaningful. “As we all know, we’re living in a world filled with uncertainty and many challenges. Our family understands that reality all too well. A few years ago, this gathering could have had a very different meaning. Tonight is about celebrating life, family, friendships, faith and a man who means so much to all of us.”

She added, “Now more than ever, it’s important that we show love, express gratitude, and celebrate one another. No matter how difficult life may seem, we remain grounded in our faith. And trust that our Lord and Savior still sits on the throne. So, I hope tonight’s 1970’s theme. Is a great time and a tremendous hit! We just wanted everyone to have a wonderful time taking a walk back through one of the most memorable decades.”

The disco-inspired décor and artifacts , designed by Pierce Elegance of Columbus, OH and business owner, April Pierce, are absolutely amazing and provided the perfect touch for this event.

Toledo’s own Intuition Band,  featuring Karen Harris, DJ Toledo, and Rhayne’s Dazzling Experience, party planning, 360 camera

There were several exciting prizes and give-aways that night. From best dressed 70s ensemble to the Soul Train Scrabble Board winners.

“Sixty five years around the sun is truly a blessing and a testament to what our God can do. And something never to be taken for granted.”

Special thanks to everyone that came out to make the night so special.
